DEALING WITH DEPRESSION

DEPRESSION

When you hear stories flying around that some persons commits suicide without reasons, don't go too far, it's due to a depressive mood.

What is Depression?

Depression is an illness or a medical conditions marked by feelings of sadness, worthlessness or hopelessness, as well as problems concentrating and remembering details.
Been depressed is a medical condition which has physical symptoms.

Few days ago, I read about a student Kolapo by name from a prestigious university in Nigeria which happens to be my alma mata. After he had taken a particular course for three years without passing it, even when he was supposed to have graduated of a five years course, he resulted into committing suicide. That was so saddening and painful. But often times, people under depression find it very difficult to think straight because at that moment, the only thing on their mind is to get through that challenge but as soon as they can't find any solution, they commit suicide.

I had a privilege to speak with some friends on Easter Monday, they told me that they are just tired of everything, they are actually fresh graduates but no jobs yet, one of them even told me that she doesn't mind going all the way to do something to get money which I know is not legitimate. I tried as much as I can to encourage them. But only a few of people who are depressed gets to speak their minds with someone.

Knowing these signs, how then can You move out of depression.

* Stay in touch, don't withdraw from life
* Be more active, take up some form of exercise
* Face your fears, don't avoid the things you find difficult
* Don't drink too much alcohol, for some people, alcohol can become a problem
* Try to eat a healthy diet
* Have a routine of activities
* Do those things that makes you happy and most importantly be more prayerful. Make sure you take God as your best companion, he's the only one who can make all things work.

Depression is an illness just like any other form of illness like headache, fever etc so the same energy you put into healing those other illness is the same you should put into putting out depression. At one point or the other of one's life, depression might set in but when it happens you should quickly combat it before it takes the best part of you.
